What are a student’s lift ticket options?

All ages are required to have a multi-week lift ticket, a daily lift ticket, or season pass to take a lesson! YOU ONLY NEED TO SEND A PHOTO OF THE STUDENT TO GUEST SERVICES IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A SEASON PASS, NO PHOTO IS NEEDED FOR MULIT-WEEK LIFT TICKETS. Remember, you save money by purchasing multi-week tickets when you register online for a 6-week program. Purchasing daily lift tickets are not recommended.

How to change or cancel a program?

Please keep and print your Sale Complete e-mail you will receive after registering online for any future questions or changes. There is a $25.00 Administration Fee for any changes made to the program (such as changing days Saturday to Sunday or AM to PM) or to cancel your order. To make a change to your program, you will need your Sale confirmation e-mails.

Where to go on the first day?

Please meet at our Multi-week Meeting Area, look uphill of the Kids Club/Chapel building to the left of the main plaza. We have a “Multi-week Office” for questions, though there is no need to visit the office prior to lessons unless you have a question or discrepancy. Students and parents may proceed directly to their designated areas, ready to go. These areas will be in front of the Multi-week Office and separated by skill level signs. Parents are encouraged to meet the instructors and coordinators.

What about lunch break for Full Day lessons?

Please remember if you purchased a Youth (11-17) Beginner Basics Full Day or Youth (11-17) Skill Builder Full Day we will break for lunch from 11:30am-12:30pm (lunch not included) so please make arrangements with the student.

How are classes assigned?

Students are assigned to classes according to their ability level and age. Please bring students who would like to be in the same class to the registered ski or snowboard level sign at the multiweek meeting area together on the first day. No prior arrangements are needed. However, please understand, for the benefit of your student and the rest of the class, only students in the same age group and ability will be placed together.

Will my student change classes?

Students may change classes during the program. All students progress at different rates. It may be necessary to change classes during the program as a student’s ski or snowboard performance level changes. We will try to minimize transfers. You can help us by trying not to miss any classes during the program duration and by choosing the best ability level when registering online. If your student needs to be moved to another class, we will make every effort to do so smoothly.

What if a student misses a lesson?

If you know of a day a student will be missing a class please call us at (360) 663-3034 to let us know so we can expect who will be in class for lessons. You can only make up one lesson day. We prefer if you sign-up for Saturday lesson you make up the lesson Saturday, February 28 and likewise if you are a Sunday lesson participant. Make-up classes are offered Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28, 2010

Daily Setup Equipment

After one size fitting, multi-week equipment rental will be pre-adjusted to your child’s size specifications and reserved for pickup each lesson day. Daily setup equipment is to be used each lesson day and must be returned at the end of each day. Stay Tuned for Equipment Fitting Dates or see your confirmation e-mail for dates. Please wait until the prescribed time to get fitted so that we may best serve you. Equipment fitting may also take place on the first lesson day and the rental shop will be open at 8am for fittings and pickup. Starting day is extremely busy and wait times are long, so please arrive early so as be in the lesson on time.

What if my child has special needs?

Unfortunately we do not have specially trained instructors to accommodate children with learning disabilities or special medical needs. Please contact Outdoors For All for more information about their Adaptive Programs.

Programs and Ability Levels

If your youth is a first timer (red level) then the Beginner Basics programs is the best way to learn. We also offer the Youth Skill Builder program (yellow, green, blue & purple levels) for those looking to improve their skills. If your Youth has some serious big-mountain skills we have a new Youth Team Freeride program (black level) that will keep your big mountain ripper reaching higher and going bigger.

Youths are seperated into groups by color coordinated ability levels:

LEVEL 1 – RED LEVEL are 1st Timers. They can not come to a stop on their own. They learn in the Adult Beginner area and/or on the Magic Carpet, while learning the basics of balancing and gliding on snow.

LEVEL 2 – YELLOW LEVEL are learning to balance, slow and stop. They take their first rides on the beginner chair lift after mastering the Adult Beginner area and/or the Magic Carpet area.

LEVEL 3 – GREEN LEVEL can turn left, right and make a complete stop. For boarders they can turn both toe and heel edge. They can ride the beginner charilift with confidence and are getting ready to take their first rides on the Chinook Chair lift with the run Tinkerbell in mind.

LEVELS 4 & 5 – BLUE LEVEL are starting to explore harder green and easier blue runs. They learn to make advanced turns and explore more diverse terrain. These riders are introduced to a few variations that dramatically improve their ability to negotiate more difficult terrain.

LEVELS 6 & 7 – PURPLE LEVEL can make advanced turns, tackle all blue runs and are beginning to explore more adventurous terrain like skiing and riding off the groomed trails and in the bumps. This rider’s focus can also be to master the art of carving turns on the groomed runs.

LEVELS 8 & 9 – BLACK LEVEL are exploring the whole mountain including black diamond runs and working on advanced techniques and tactical approaches to riding bigger terrain and creating a variety of turn shapes for specific conditions like powder, crud, steep terrain and high speed arcing on the groomed runs. This skier/rider is comfortable with all types of snow conditions and off-piste terrain (off the groomed runs).
